can you apply fair&lovely on your eyelids and under your eyes?

hi..i am using fair & lovely multivitmin cream and put it on under my eyes and on my eyelids a few..would it casue any damage?

they say u shuldnt. but i used to apply it under my eyes. it didnt really help. but dont put too much just to be careful =)
