Is it safe to use sun tanning lotion for stretch marks?
Someone once said that a trick to get rid of stretch marks was to use sun-tanning lotion. I have a felling that as an african -american, this might actually work. Is it safe to try it, I'm going to try on a small area to test. Do these products have bad effects on african american skin. Know any products that can tan, but not too dark of a tan? what about bronzers? please help.
what they say works in the sun tan lotion is the cocoa butter.. it has an effect to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. i never had any luck with it as my prego belly still looks like a new jersey road map, but maybe you will..lol!

In order to help you find the best firming lotion, I have compiled a brief skin firming lotion review, by compiling the results reported by other users. I can also give you the safety facts that reviewers never mention. Here goes!
NIVEA Skin Firming Lotion Review
Recommended by ten out of ten reviewers, even though there were numerous drawbacks and side effects that included bad smell and allergic reactions. Eight out of 10 reviewers said that it really worked. Half said that the bottle was too small and would not last the two weeks that it takes for "guaranteed results", but that it was relatively inexpensive.
The best firming lotion, in my opinion, contains coenzyme Q10, an antioxidant, and this cream does include that ingredient, but it also contains some that are better left on the shelf. For some unknown reason, the company decided to include a sunscreen in the cream.
The compound that they chose to use is called oxybenzone. Over two years ago, researchers were able to show that oxybenzone causes increased free radical activity, on a cellular level, when exposed to sunlight. The compound is now classified as a "photo-carcinogen", but it has not been removed from the market.
What caused the rashes and other allergic reactions? It could have been the added fragrance, the preservatives, PEG-40, denatured alcohol, the sodium hydroxide or the butylenes. All of those ingredients are included in the product and all are known to cause allergic reactions and skin irritation. NIVEA's is definitely not the best firming lotion. I'd recommend that you avoid it.
Avon Skin Firming Lotion Review
Reviewers say that this product is ineffective. Researchers say that it contains hazardous ingredients. Since, there are no "positives" to this product; I'll simply recommend that you avoid it.
Estee Lauder Skin Firming Lotion Review
First of all, unless you work outside all day long, you should NOT be using a cream on a daily basis with an SPF rating. If you do work outside or spend a lot of time in the sun, you need a broad spectrum sun block with an SPF of 30+.
I mention this, because one reviewer swears by Estee Lauder makes the best firming lotion and other products. She uses the "daywear" cream, because it has an SPF rating of 15. She doesn't say how much time she spends in the sun, but I let her know that she is not reducing her risk of skin cancer by using this product.
The majority of these screening compounds, whether organic or synthetic, were never fully tested for safety. The safest choice for sun protection is zinc oxide, but you should only use it on an as-needed basis.
Something that a skin firming lotion review will never tell you is that sunscreens increase your risk of vitamin D deficiency and may increase your risk of certain types of cancer.
The best firming lotion does not contain any sunscreen, but it does contain vitamin B5, which provides natural protection from burning and antioxidants that firm, while preventing and repairing free radical damage. Look for something that's "safe enough to eat" and you'll know you've found the best.
